Why did I create the Home Learning Tracker?

Considering Home Education

When I first faced the possibility of home educating my son — after struggling to secure a suitable school place — I had no idea where to start. Specially working full-time.

Was I ready to do it long-term?

I wanted to stay close to the curriculum (even though we don't have to), track his progress meaningfully, and make sure any report I submitted wouldn’t cause issues.

For this to work I had to be extremely organised.

I could see my surfaces turning into this very quickly unless I figured out a good system.

It is a legal requirement to ensure our children receive an adequate education, and the Local Authority asks for confirmation of this over time.

I spoke with other home educators.

Like many parents, I felt overwhelmed and unsure.

I wanted a tool that would take the stress out of admin, tailored for home educators. Too many tools out there offer actual courses and worksheets, but that's not what I wanted or needed.

That's why I created this tool - to support families through their home education journey, and make it easier to focus on what really matters: watching your child grow into smart, confident individuals.
